O'Loghlin marvels at the simplicity of inventions such as the Axle-Tow
Feeder, which solved a long-standing problem for farmers transporting
cylindrical hay bales weighing up to 500 kg each.
Turf farmer Scott Richardson recognised that a round hay bale was just
like a big wheel, so he devised a frame, axle and towbar that allows
bales to be towed by any farm vehicle.
"Everyone else was thinking about the bales like an object you have
to lift and he thought why don't you just push it over on its side and
roll it," O'Loghlin says. "Inventors see opportunities where the rest
of us see problems or need."
